Sunrise
Service:
This year we had a Sunrise Service at the
community center at the El Camino Community on the Toledo Bend
Reservoir. It was hosted by Jacki and Bob Hennigan. Aaron Purdue,
the pastor of the 1st Baptist Church in Hemphill read the lessons
and the singing acapella. We had planned to have it outdoors on the
shore, but the weather didn't cooperate: it was SNOWING all day on
Holy Saturday and was too cold Easter morning. We had a good crowd
however: 40 with 36 communions. The service was the Holy Eucharist,
Rite II and we had a special service bulletin that contained the
whole liturgy so there was no need for prayer books or hymnals. Thre
gradual him was Amazing Grace sung to an accompanying
harmonica.

The Kotar Family
Frank and Sherri Kotar's family were with us for
Easter. The Kotars are communicants of St. Martin's Episcopal
Church in Houston, but attend Christ Church regularly on weekends
when they are here at their vacation/retirement) home on the Lake.

From left to right: Frank, Sherri, granddaughter Morgan Wilson, grandson Jeffery Wilson, daughter Cindy Mathis, and grandson Cody Strickland. Below are two shots the Kotars made of the same scene at their lakeside home. The one on the left was taken on Holy Saturday: the one on the right was taken the next day on Easter Day. Talk about your "Texas" weather! The last picture was taken from the south side of the church on Saturday while it was snowing.
